Final Summer Class
It seems like the end of the summer term really snuck up on me, but I don't see any problem with that. I really was thankful to hear the impressions from former MACers not just on their use of technology in the classroom but generally their impressions of teaching early on in their careers especially given their different backgrounds and current teaching locations. I'm really hoping that we're given similar experiences later on in the program since I probably got more out of their discussion than I did with several of the class periods that we've had so far in various courses.

Personally, I was most intrigued by the idea of the IB school, although I did have some reservations as I noted on Emily G's blog. I don't know if this makes me sound like a snob, but I really hope I don't end up teaching under-privilegded kids in a big city. I'd go crazy. I know that all schools need good teachers, but I feel like I'll have enough on my plate as a new teacher without worrying about gangs and helping students, whose second language is English, catch up.
ReplyDeleteI also think the story about being fired and rehired is scary. I would make myself sick worrying about if I'd have a job in the fall, but it does show how tight the purse strings are in MI right now.
